They were first trialled at a state secondary school called Blatchington Mill starting with year 7 and 8 students. With all tasks fully explained and the curriculum so well covered student NC levels went up. Another effect was that staff stress reduced. They found many advantages, such as: the planning was mostly provided by the booklets, absent and late students could simply start on a certain page, cover work was easier to set with page numbers given and the projects continued as normal (no more irrelevant or rushed
cover work!).
