PROJECT OUTLINE: Candle Holder Y7



Project Outline
This project covers basic metal work theory. The students produce a candle holder using a sheet aluminium (150mm by 150mm). As well as the standard features this project includes: research using WWW on the theme of henna design for centre punch decoration, measurement task (various candles, oblique drawing, making a template, step-by-step (flow chart) drill types (usage and safety), finishing metals page and riveting theory.

Resources & Practical Tips
Resources- Shears, riveting facilities and other basic workshop tools. It may be useful to make up some bending blocks so they can fold sheet metal easily.

Materials- 150mm square aluminium sheet (1mm thick). Make up three strips of card to the same dimensions for modelling.
